Kratzt Pierrot auf seiner Bratsche.
Von sich wirft er jetzt die Bratsche:
Mit der delikaten Linken
Faßt den Kahlkopf er am Kragen -
Träumend spielt er auf der Glatze
Mit groteskem Riesenbogen.

raschia Pierrot sulla sua viola,
come la cicogna su una zampa sola,
dà inizio a un cupo pizzicato.
E subito arriva Cassandro - su tutte le furie
per questi virtuosismi notturni -
Con un grottesco arco gigante
raschia Pierrot sulla sua viola.
Adesso getta lontano la viola:
e con la delicata mano sinistra
agguanta per il bavero la testa calva -
e come sognando suona su quella pelata
con un grottesco arco gigante.
